the moment of truth

FRIDAY 2/7/2020 9:15 AM--the amp is plugged in and turned on...I'm letting it warm up for 20 minutes or so...as far as *I* can tell, the tubes survived the jolt they got last Wednesday (?) after band practice...9:44 AM--amp still works, even the reverb!!!
12:05 PM--did about 30 minutes of practice, more or less...I think IF I'm not nervous, I'll be ok on the keys...some songs will come off better than others, naturally...
6:34PM-The opening act, if you want to call it that doesn’t finish until 7 o’clock… So here I am at 6:30 – waiting… And I don’t yet have a legal parking space; construction in this shopping complex is still making a mess of things…6:42PM-got the best space...Dave kept anyone else from taking it…I just took the Xanax...the load-in can officially start in about 15 minutes…
SATURDAY 2/8/2020 12:30 AM--(sigh) *I* thought we were pretty bad...the audience seemed to like us...there were at least three serious Musicians in the audience--Stoney, Tom Blood, and Greg Marsh...they paid me a number of compliments, about my singing as well as my instrumental work...of course I don't know if they meant it, but I don't much care...my keyboard playing was (at most) a 7 on a scale of 10...I couldn't always hear it...we skipped a song I was worried about and I suddenly decided to play guitar on TWILIGHT TIME instead of keys...my lead singing wasn't too bad either IMO...oh well, I came home $75 dollars richer...of course my ears are ringing more than a little...the next Musical event I know of is a Reverbs rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon...
